Setup

Get your display running

Pick your path and follow the steps. Five minutes, start to finish.

1

Plug in your device

Connect via USB-C. The display will power on and show a WiFi setup screen.

2

Connect to WiFi

Your device creates a hotspot called "pebl-setup" and shows a QR code on the e-paper display. Scan the QR code with your phone to connect, then open Settings › WiFi on your phone — a setup page will appear where you enter your home WiFi credentials.

3

Install the app

Add pebl to your Slack workspace or Discord server at pebl.ink/connect.

4

Pair your device

Once connected, the display shows an 8-character pairing code (e.g. ABCD-1234). In Slack, open the App Home tab and tap "Link Device", then enter the code. For Discord, run the /link command and enter it in the modal.

5

You're done

React to any message and it appears on the display instantly. Works with Slack and Discord. Hold the BOOT button on your device to add another platform later.

Free trial included. Your 7-day trial starts automatically when you connect. No credit card required. When you're ready, grab a $10 key. Yours forever.
1

Flash the firmware

Connect your board via USB-C, clone the firmware repo, and follow its README. Both ESP32 firmwares ship with an interactive ./flash.sh that prompts for device name, display variant, and rotation. The IDF build is recommended for ESP32 because it keeps WiFi alive with light sleep + DTIM (1 to 3 mA average) instead of deep-sleep polling, so battery life is meaningfully longer. Both speak the same protocol and are OTA-compatible.

2

Connect to WiFi

Once flashed, your device creates a hotspot called "pebl-setup" and shows a QR code on the e-paper display. Scan the QR code with your phone to connect, then open Settings › WiFi on your phone — a setup page will appear where you enter your home WiFi credentials.

3

Pair your device

The display shows an 8-character pairing code (e.g. ABCD-1234). In Slack, open the App Home tab and tap "Link Device", then enter the code. For Discord, run the /link command. Your 7-day free trial starts automatically.

4

Activate when ready

Your trial runs for 7 days with full access. When you're ready, grab a $10 key. Yours forever, no subscriptions.
